As the Covid-19 Pandemic hit in 2020, there were obvious challenges businesses had to contend with but some not so obvious. One such issue was how do you retool a company to survive in a pandemic. Our buildings, our products, services even our very way of life was never really designed for thriving in a pandemic. As such, many businesses faced a stark decision last year of either embracing digital transformation or potentially facing bankruptcy. Most if not all businesses can agree this was uncharted territory in terms of suddenly trying to work remotely and digitally, while still trying to be operational in terms of doing everything that needed to be done for the company to function.
This global “experiment” of sorts in 2020 to implement remote working has been an astonishing success. The businesses that could embrace digital transformation and meet the challenge of Covid, not only survived but started to thrive with a very strong outlook going further. They are now operating with far more productivity, happier employees, and significantly less overhead in building, utilities, infrastructure, insurance, and everything else that the old world entailed. However, there is a lot to consider as we look at the future of work. A Harvard business school survey suggests a dramatic statistic that every business owner should start to consider.
